When it comes to Pygmalion, the first thing I remember is the special plot of the film. It is charming and attractive, and now I'll tell my viewpoints of this film.
Professor Higgins trained Elisa for three months, including pure oral English, pleasing words and deeds, and even taught her high-level social skills such as dancing. What's more, Higgins brought Elisa to see his family and wanted her to show her learning outcomes. But he failed, even if her pronunciation was better than before, the content of what she had chatted also revealed her low status. But they didn't give up and started training day after day.
A significant thing that the movie has told us is that good manners really matter. Before Eliza had been corrected her accent and behavior, actually nobody really faced her with a positive look or even just with discrimination. However, things had changed when she talked with others in pure English and dressed like an honorable noble. She danced with handsome gentleman confidently and treated the other people with good manners culturally. No one would think she was once a girl who sold flowers with terrible oral English and rude actions. Then we could say Higgins finally succeeded in this though task. But is that true? Maybe he won the bet, but he must lost the girl.
At the end of the story, Eliza finally not only became elegant in the appearance but also completely improved in her self-esteem.In the novel I still remember the thing which impresses me most is that Eliza finally married Freddy but not Higgins. It is not the same as the usual movie we saw before, but it is the different ending that makes the story more profound and empathetic. The author's purpose to write this story is to satirize the prejudiced society. The author is not an idealist, and his works are close to life, which just enhances the authenticity and identity of the story. In this adapted version of the film,Elisa finally returned to Professor Higgins for it is the best ending that audiences want to see.
